Description of the project

This project is underway in the Réseau d’éducation prioritaire de Montreuil, specifically at Paul Eluard secondary school, Voltaire elementary school, and the Voltaire, Marceau, and Dolto preschools.

Since January 2001, a trainer from the Pacific Path Institute has been present to facilitate the implementation of the program and launch the center’s activities in France. All five schools simultaneously launched the first phase of the program in early March 2001. As they each complete the workshops in June, over 10 000 students between the ages of 4 and 16 years old will have been taught basic social abilities to resolve conflicts peacefully.

A research project to evaluate the implementation and the impact of the Pacific Path program in France is underway, in partnership with the Université de Paris 13 (Groupe de recherche sur les ressources educatives et culturelles; http://www.univ-paris13.fr/) and with CADIS (Centre d’Analyse et d’Intervention Sociales; www.ehess.fr/centres/cadis).
