Study of the integration of emotion in interpersonal problem resolution for elementary school children

Supervised by François Bowen (faculty of education, Université de Montréal), this is the doctorate project of Normand Rondeau. The ICCRM committed itself financially to the implementation of this study which uses the Pacific Path’s conflict resolution model to get to the root of a fundamental question which has not yet been resolved: How is emotion integrated in interpersonal problem resolution?

This project is included in the evaluation of the Pacific Path program at the preschool and elementary school levels, as well as that of parents and school staff (second generation). It is comprised of two parts :

  • the creation of a sophisticated measuring tool to establish the problem resolution processes;
  • the evaluation of these processes, including the emotional state at the moment of conflict.

The collection of preliminary data is complete, while the main data will be collected in automn 2002.
